About the Client’s Users

Target geography: India
Target industries: SMB owners who used the client’s accounting software for their businesses

The Ask

The client needed help in managing a huge increase in customer queries on ways to use one of its products, an accounting software, used by several small and medium businesses (SMBs).
The client decided to take the approach of building a free e-learning course that clearly explained how the client’s financial accounting software could make accounting easy for all SMBs. Clearly Blue was approached to help the company in this endeavour.

How we rose to the challenge

Most small business owners do not have an accounting degree. Accounting jargon can be tricky to get one’s head around. Therefore, the foremost challenge for Clearly Blue was elucidating the subject in a way that learners found interesting.

It is a known fact that storytelling is an effective way to get learners to care about the content and increase their engagement in an e-learning course. After extensive discussions and brainstorming with the client, it was decided to take a storytelling approach to explain key concepts to users of the client’s accounting software. This was crucial to ensure that the information in the course was not just viewed, but also absorbed and retained.

A well-known expert in business storytelling was roped in to be the presenter for the entire course. For this, Clearly Blue planned and executed a shoot at the company’s premises, in their Bangalore office.

A team of content creators, instructional designers, video analysts and quality checkers was formed to bring the entire course to fruition. The course was divided into short modules and packed with software walkthroughs that clearly explained the right flow of the software. Characters who acted as guides and provided useful tips about the use of the accounting software made the course an immersive experience for learners.

The Impact

  • The entire e-learning course has proved to be a helpful guide in the customer journey of using the accounting software.
  • Since the course is uploaded on the client’s YouTube channel, it can be viewed at a time and in a manner that suits the learners. The course lives on as a playlist of 32 videos on YouTube that has been watched and appreciated by tens of thousands of users.
